Since 1991, when the Laabental Music School was founded, I have been director of that school, where I also teach saxophone, flute, Irish flute and whistles, Bodhrán, panpipes, piano, keyboard, jazz- and popensemble.

Since my childhood, I have been intensely interested in music of a variety of origins and styles. By attending the workshops of Niall Keegan and Mel Mercier (Irish flute, bodhrán) I was able to gain proficiency in respect to the “Irish groove.”

Bettina Schimak, Video Producer, has appropriately referred to the rhythmic-vocal flute technique which I created, as the “talking flute.” In developing this technique, I drew upon selected characteristics of the “Konnakkol” drum method of southern India.

CD productions, concerts, as well as TV and Radio appearances with a variety of artists: Ciúnas, Gandalf, Steve Hackett (“Genesis”), Georg Danzer, Wolfgang Ambros, ZigZag, Marwan Abado, Ursula Leutgöb, Richard Schönherz, Emily Burridge, Erich Buchebner... in Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Holland, Italy, Brazil.

In 1981, I found my wife, Judith, the perfect life partner for me, who supports me in all that I do. She has assumed full responsibility for all administrative aspects of my work, which, I am quite sure, has significantly prolonged my life. We have 3 wonderful children and a house which will probably never be finished, but continually becomes more beautiful, due to a well of ideas which shows no signs of running dry.
